Maternity
reflexology during pregnancy
Maternity reflexology is a specific form of reflexology
aimed at women during any part of the pregnancy sequence –
pre-conception, pregnancy, labour and the post-natal
period. It works by getting the body (and hormones) back
into a state of equilibrium, reducing levels of stress, and
allowing a state of deep relaxation – all essential factors
in conceiving and maintaining a healthy pregnancy.
Did you know
that after week 25 of your pregnancy, you
should be eligible for a Health in Pregnancy Grant
which is a
one off payment of £190? This is being provided to help
you stay well and healthy in the later stages of your
pregnancy, so why not invest in some maternity
reflexology treatments? This will help to ensure you are
calm and relaxed and will prepare your body in the
important time leading up to the birth of your baby.
“My
inclusion of reflexology in the initial pregnancy
strategies that I developed was accidental, yet it is now
one of the most powerful tools in my
programme.” Dr Gowri Motha
from her book ‘Gentle Birth Method’. Read

Maternity reflexology can increase your chances of having a
faster labour with less pain. “Studies
carried out in the UK and Denmark have shown that
reflexology can dramatically speed up labour and reduce
pain. In a UK trial in the late eighties, 37 pregnant women
completed a course of ten reflexology sessions. For these
women, the second stage of labour lasted an average of 16
minutes, compared to the expected one to two hours. In a
Danish study at the Gentofte Hospital in Copenhagen,
meanwhile, 68 women tried reflexology instead of drugs
during labour. An impressive 61% said they experienced
‘outstanding pain relief’.” (Junior
